Stephen Sheffield is a photographer based in Cohasset, MA. He received a BFA from Cornell University and an MFA from the California College of the Arts. During his time at CCA, he assisted photographers, Larry Sultan, and Carrie Mae Weems. Sheffield’s work has been exhibited at the Panopticon Gallery, Boston, MA; Shelley Hoon Keith Gallery at Curry College, Milton, MA; the Griffin Museum of Photography, Winchester, MA. His work has been featured in the Washington Post Magazine, the Boston Globe Magazine, and Black and White Magazine. Since 2013, Sheffield has served as an adjunct MFA professor of photography at New England College and since 2022 at Massachusetts College of Art. Sheffield counts Ralph Eugene Meatyard, Duane Michals, and Robert Rauschenberg among his greatest artistic influences.
Sheffield was named to YourDailyPhotograph.com Hot 100 of 2022.
